for the future me

whee! after a good 2 wks of MIA in TW, i'm backkk! with many pikcharrrrs and presentzzz! having rather poor retention of content in disliked modules and an ambiguous grade 'S' in 221, i hereby proclaim i've forgotten whether it's forbidden to edit picture to match sound, or the other way round. but anyway, i'm gna blog my trip to match the pictures i've taken (: click on the picture to enlarge! and everything will be in 简体字. cos i simply can't be bothered to add yet another language to my language bar. and i really have no idea how to input 繁体字. (:

DAY 1: Arrival at Kaohsiung + 梦时代 + 高雄渔人码头

arrived at the airport at friggin' 5am..and believe or not..baa is there before us. at the other terminal nonetheless, going to i-forgot-which-part-of-china to meet his dear to tour china! woohoo~ and so when i msged him he was 1min to boarding. haha. anyways, the airport is still, if not more, magnificently elegant in the dark.

ok, on to beautifully taken clouds! they're not kopped from anywhere k! 100% from my nikon coolpix s8! xD

we have reached Kaohsiung!

we're at 梦时代..their Kaohsiung equivalent of our Vivocity. even opened around the same time lor. really felt like we were in Vivo all along..and not in a foreign country..lol.

sat on the Sanrio-themed ferris wheel! ours is the Bad Badtz Maru car..they have different Sanrio soft toy cushions in every car! xD

after that we walked around the whole mall..they have like 9 floors, of which the 9th is the ferris wheel..so effectively 8 floors..and it's a really fun, foody and family mall!

the arcade! the arcade! i'm damn hyped abt the arcade! so happening! so bright and cheery and not-like-a-singapore-arcade! it's fun-themed, not teenage-boys-themed, like in singapore ones.. -_-" taiwan is crazy abt 投篮机s and 娃娃机s! omg! but they're much cheaper than singapore ones, and much more bountiful. so exciting. xD

after that, we went to Fisherman's Wharf 渔人码头. sat on a one-hour cruise around 高雄港..really interesting. took really nice pictures in the sunset too! never knew a tour around a port could last an hour, haha..

and thus ended our first day, in Kaohsiung..

DAY 2: 垦丁

poor bam fell sick! so we have to change plans and go to an indoor water theme park 水世界. it's a very wild wild wet-esque place..except we're forced to buy swimsuits :( cos we planned on gg to the beach and thus didn't bring swimsuits.

after that we visited the beautiful Kenting beach for awhile..great weather that day..cos it was going to rain -_-" haha. click on the bottom right picture for a shock.

went back to hotel for a rest, waiting for the rain to stop too. nice view eh? mountains u can never see in singapore..

dinner next. the eatery is not very fantastic-looking, but the food is great! and they have a pet boar!! so cuuuuute!! it was making squeaky noises all thru our meal..wahaha...new experience eh?

DAY 3: Arrival at Taipei + 西门町

yay! we're going to Taipei via High Speed Rail aka Bullet Train aka 高铁!

no matter what you do, DO NOT and NEVER eat at this 拉面 shop at Taipei Main Station! CONDEMNED! long queue 也就算了, they don't serve food can! it's -read carefully- ONLY NOODLES AND SOYA SAUCE. for SGD$5!! appreciate our crystal jade and din tai fung!

after checking into hotel we went to 西门町! why? cos it's a must-go in Taipei, and it's 10mins walk from the hotel? lol.

suaku me was soooo excited at the full-to-the-brim 娃娃机s! and like every other shop is a 娃娃机 shop! oooooh!! just look at them!

for dinner, we had:

strolling and taking pictures..have u ever seen a four-storey KFC? lol.

DAY 4: Taipei Zoo + SOGO 忠孝馆

nothing much to say huh..enjoy pictures of the cute animals! and act-cute bam.. -_-"

poor drenched us, caught in the rainstorm..the kind that umbrellas are useless.

other than showing the cute pillars, i'm also trying to show the rain drops on my camera lens. i'm in a big pavilion k, and the rain still splashes in..haiz..

why this SOGO got specific name? cos there're 3 SOGOs in Taipei, all within 2 MRT stations' distance. woohoo. but erm, no energy to take pix cos i fell sick. haha. no, it was before the rain. Taiwan is really too hot. after we left Kaohsiung its temperature hit 35degC can!! O_o

DAY 5: SOGO 复兴馆 + SOGO 敦化馆 + 微风广场 + 士林夜市

SOGO opens at 11!

a very nice top floor, with a nice view! to be honest i forgot where this is. should be 复兴馆, from the order of my pictures. but erm, i'm not sure. =p

a vibrating order alerter in a high-tech food court. haha.

another must-go in Taipei: 士林夜市!!! of cos, our first stop is the 豪大大鸡排..おいしい!!

bam's orgasmic baked potato. with double corn servings and roasted chicken. :D

my favourite!! pets and petshops!! oooooh heaven!!

honestly. it's the funnest 夜市 of the supposed 四大夜市 in Taipei! full of games and good food! and PETS!!

DAY 6: 新光三越 + 华纳威秀 + 世贸一馆 + 台北101 + 五分埔

let the pictures do most of the talking, man.

this is Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, so posh it has 4 buildings the names of paper sizes and no one shops there.

Harry Potter is burning hotttt in TW too. argh 5th movie is too disjointed. how on earth they cut a 3-inch thick book to 2 hours?! and not even including the explanation of the prophecy?? which is like the crux of the whole 5th book? oh no digressed.

MY definition of an orgasmic meal

which is opposite 五分埔服饰区. and the day after i ate there, the TW president went too! not at the same branch though. but it's cos it's the voted the most popular 鲁肉饭 in Taipei! woohoo! this is a very classic case of 误打误撞. wahaha.

our spoils at 五分埔..and more than half belongs to bam!! shocking news rite? haha.

DAY 7: 美丽华 Miramar + Carrefour + 诚品信义店 + 台北101 + 五分埔 + 饶河街夜市

i really have no idea why 换换爱 is based at Miramar..cos in my opinion, other than its top floor, it's an absolutely BORING mall. but still, we managed to snap the more interesting bits of the mall...

went Taipei 101 agn, this time to the 89th floor Observatory. some of the views from Taipei 101 Observatory:

a structure that keeps the building stable...and is so big i can't take a full picture of it...O_o and it's too technical that i can't rmb its name..wind something..

why did we go 五分埔 a second time? cos it was too big to be covered in one night...and we still needed presents..haha..no pictures though..

night fell, and we went...

you have to see the famous 胡椒饼 of 饶河街夜市 to believe it...

this "garang soldier" (Bam, 2007) is putting the buns into their traditional oven with ONLY HIS BARE HANDS. even for the household oven we use gloves! theirs is a big big oven for hundreds of buns....imagine the temperature!!!

his hands were red from cleaning the oven earlier..and now he puts in the buns ONE BY ONE...

everyone queuing up was just like "ouch!!" omg....and every time he puts his hand into the 烤炉, they get NT$40, which is SGD$2...only!

if i rmb correctly, this night market has another must-try...which is the 药炖排骨...something like bak kut teh...but much sweeter..and u'll be amazed at how even 美眉s forsake their image to munch on the 排骨 with their hands...haha..

DAY 8: 中正纪念堂 + 国父纪念馆 + 华西街夜市

took this on my way back..this is the famous 阿宗面线 in 西门町..where the queues never end and ppl stand eating their 面线 outside the shop...mind you..it's alr 10:10pm when i took this picture..never fails to amaze me everytime i walk pass their shop...

DAY 9: 阳明山 + 电器街 + 临江街/通化街夜市

one of the rare times in my life that i dun wanna leave in a place of nature...i can only use the word shiok in 阳明山 man...the strong winds, the surrounding mountains, the all-natural surroundings..just make you wanna stay there man..mainly the winds..and the great weather! believe it or not...even the 1.7km walk into the valley was accompanied by natural aircon! and no blazing sun at all! cos the trees shielded it all..well we went to 2 places in 阳明山..one is 二子坪, the other is 擎天岗..

our nice "tour guides"..they're really active abt coming 阳明山..goes to different stops in 阳明山 every week without fail...

the 电器街 is like a sim lim street man...esp those where the whole building is one shop...u never know how high it ends...and Wii is just erm..okay..

do not go this place..if u're broke and hoping for a card payment..T_T

DAY 10: back to Kaohsiung + 大远百 + SOGO + 新光三越 + Isetan + 六合夜市

on bullet train back to Kaohsiung..byebye Taipei! T_T

and thus ended our last effective day in Taiwan..cos next day is departure day lo...

DAY 11: Departure from Kaohsiung International Airport 高雄小港国际机场

sigh...i have a weird bf...

and this marks the end of my long long post abt my 11-day TW trip....排行榜 up next..on all things Taiwan! xD for now, i'm very exhausted. it is actually 10:38pm on July 22nd..so..how much time have i spent on this long long post?
