for the future me

i was just unblocked on msn. how strange and sudden..but it's not exactly good news..i rather we had zero contact..that i never will have knowledge of your existence..no..i rather we never knew each other..so..shall i block you back? so we can be out of each other's lives agn?

some drama jus happened downstairs..this middle-aged malay lady supposedly stole things from sheng siong and got caught..and i deduce, from what i saw from my window, she herself and other bystanders offered to pay for the stuff but the staff insisted on arresting her? i think la..cos she was resisting so hard..or maybe cos got miscomm..she didn't seem to understand english very well. there was like 50 ppl watching la..so drama..and this uncle was so angry that the staff are so merciless to an old lady..that the price of the stuff she stole is not significant at all..but they wouldn't let her go. so..sheng siong boss, in consideration of the rising wrath of the people, decided to let her off without a word, or cent.

now, a few things are very weird.. 1) more ppl would agree to let a thief off after paying rather than arrest him. 2) persuasion from ppl of the same race is more effective. 3) chasing after a thief who stole from you is merciless. 4) sheng siong staff have no opinions of their own. 5) old ppl steal things never mind. 6) the crux of the matter is the value of the stolen stuff, and not the morality of the act itself. 7) the ratio of staff chasing after thief should be 1:1, and staff should not harm thief in the process of chasing, cos if the thief is old, it is cruel.

i think it's just absurd. if she didn't resist, they didn't have to use force. if she didn't run, she didn't have to resist. if she didn't steal, she didn't have to run. if she could offer to pay after that, she didn't have to steal! and if you're a staff and you're one of them who saw her steal, would you just calmly continue to give change and print receipt?? what has it got to do with the staff? their reactions were perfectly logical to the action! did they really negate the fact that she stole just because she resisted and thus they used force and thus it seemed that the whole situation seemed cruel and lacked humanity? my goodness..

this has been a very strange night..
